Through the first theme for the Lord of the Rings, we focused on the awesome God with a grand design inviting us into that design and to be a part of His story. He created you in His image and chose you to be part of His plan. As a man created in His image, you desire to protect and provide, to love and be loved, to give and receive honor, and to express and hear well done. As a woman created in His image, the desire for creativity and beauty are large. Other desires and longing can be found in the heart of a woman, I’m sure some that I listed here for men.
Through the second Lord of the Rings theme, we focused on God’s choosing you and giving you a unique part to play in His Story. He created you, chose you, adopted you and set you apart for His purposes for all eternity. Your life is a praise to His glory. Your part is to reveal Christ right where you live. That begins with being a man or woman who engages with strength and love offering your world life and growth. The way to discover your part is to fully surrender, offer Him your heart, be willing to suffer for His sake so that you might experience His resurrection, life and glory.
Through the third Lord of the Rings theme, we focused on the truth that Evil seeks to destroy and defeat you and take you down. Satan is hunting you and desires to lure you and causing you to loose your way. God, however, meant for you to live in His grand design, His story and the part He created you to play. Satan seeks to steal your part in the Story, kill your heart, and destroy or diminish your influence in your part of God’s world. We are in a battle for our hearts and the hearts of those we love!

Evil is hunting you and will use whatever means to take you down and out of the battle. …for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and the forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12) In I John 2:16 we learn that we are vulnerable to lust and pride. Our eyes and our souls are tainted. The sin nature exists in us and we will never be totally free of it until we move from this life into the next kingdom.

I am in the middle of speaking to the themes from the Lord of the Rings trailer. In fact, if I can find it I will put it here.
On May 27th I am going to share a view from the pew which is a heartbreaking look at sin and its davistating effects on us from personal experience. That leads me into “Golden Haired Women” which is not my concept but it has great helped me in relating to my sisters, my wife and women in the world in general. I hope my words there speak to you men. However, there are some concepts here for women as well. Women, may these those make you wise as you relate to the men in your life.

Seems like all I could see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me “son
Stop fighting a fight it’s already been won”I am redeemed, You set me free
So I’ll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I’m not who I used to be
I am redeemed, I’m redeemed
All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, “Child lift up your head”
I remember, oh God, You’re not done with me yet

Rivers of Living Water – ESV (John 7:37-39)
37 On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
37-39 On the final and climactic day of the Feast, Jesus took his stand. He cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.” (He said this in regard to the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were about to receive. The Spirit had not yet been given because Jesus had not yet been glorified.) Read more of this post

“This task was appointed to you and if you do not find a way, no one will!” From The Lord of the Rings trailer, theme 2. God has given you a part to play in His grand design THAT IS YOURS ALONE. If you do not find a way, no one will.
We’ve covered “Fate has chosen him.” For the believer, that’s God has chosen you. We’ve looked at the Word to back that up. Now we are moving to the next theme.
God has given you a part to play that is yours and yours alone, if yo do not find a way no one will. Do you remember that line from the Return of the Fellowship trailer. It was spoken by Galadriel to Frodo as he takes on the task of bearing the ring to Mount Doom.
Frodo shrunk back initially, but as we all know he assumed the role of ring bearer and bore
that ring all the way into Mordor and to Mount Doom. Taking the role we have been given requires risk taking and courage. But we are not alone–we are never alone in our role! What’s more, taking that role is our ticket to becoming the man or woman of God that He created us to be.

This scene in the Passion of the Christ movie really did it for me in 2012. I saw again exciting truth of what He did in coming and living and dying. He brought life that we could not know or experience without Him. He gave that life to me–I am thankful!
He has taken me on a journey into His heart since that time. I want to share that move with you in 2013. More I want others to experience what our Creator has for them.
Watch and let your heart be touched by what Jesus withstood for you!
Any time you see LR in the title of a blog this year, it stands for Lord of the Rings. It’s a hint that the blog is about the themes delivered in the Lord of the Rings trailer.

When I watch The Lord of the Rings trailer now, one of the things that really stands out is where Pippin, the Hobbit, knocks a ball and chains into the dry well and alerts the evil forces on the Fellowship’s location. I so relate to Pippin now and I believe most Christians do if they think about him for a moment. He is the youngest Hobbit of the bunch. He does many immature things throughout the series. That’s like so many of us where, though we know the
Truth, we still move in the wrong way–ignorantly or willfully and cause chaos for ourselves and others.
Pippin is available. He has a good heart. He wants to come through. He wants to contribute.
