Holy, Holy, Holy

In the Arms of An Angel

Sara McLachlan

Holy, holy, holy

8“Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come!”

11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”

Revelation 4

I love Revelation 4.   I also love Revelation 5.   Revelation 4 has what I want to focus on.  It needs no commentary.  Just take it for what God may say to you.

The Throne in Heaven

After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings[a] and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. You Are Chosen for What? Ephesians 1

I picked up some notes from a teaching on idolatry. My eyes focused on a passage reference–Ephesians 1. I read the passage. Then I begin to read 3-14 over and over again. I read that passage for days, because there is so much in it that ministered to my soul. I found joy, love, grace, holiness, mercy, laughter, sorrow, bliss, and worship there. I worshipped every time I read  3-14.

What amazed me about this passage is how all these blessings were delivered to us. The central concept shows us that all these blessings are given us because of the blood of Christ. Yes, He did it all for us and has delivered all that is shown to us here by His blood.

I read that passage for months. I shared that passage with others because it was and is so meaningful to me.

I want to spend some time here because there is so much to be revealed to us from this passage.

More to come.

Jehovah–Who is He?

Revelation Chapter 4

One Sunday I heard a visiting pastor in the pulpit. He spoke on Isaiah 6. He attempted through the sermon to show us how holy God really is and how awestruck we should be by Him and His holiness.

I left thinking that he missed! Because he was visiting and the audience did not know him well enough and the time was so short for them to come to grips with the deep truth.

He missed for me anyhow. But I did hear him on one point. That “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts–the whole earth is full of His glory.” The pastor noted that Jehovah is referred to being this holy times 3 only one other place in the Revelations.

That’s when the blessing ensued. I read Revelation 4 and 5 Sunday afternoon and I was overwhelmed with the magnificence of my God. He is so, so, so worthy of my praise! I could not worship Him enough–even if I, from this point forward, continually worshiped Him every second of my existence.
