“This task was appointed to you and if you do not find a way, no one will!” From The Lord of the Rings trailer, theme 2. God has given you a part to play in His grand design THAT IS YOURS ALONE. If you do not find a way, no one will.
We’ve covered “Fate has chosen him.” For the believer, that’s God has chosen you. We’ve looked at the Word to back that up. Now we are moving to the next theme.
God has given you a part to play that is yours and yours alone, if yo do not find a way no one will. Do you remember that line from the Return of the Fellowship trailer. It was spoken by Galadriel to Frodo as he takes on the task of bearing the ring to Mount Doom.
Frodo shrunk back initially, but as we all know he assumed the role of ring bearer and bore
that ring all the way into Mordor and to Mount Doom. Taking the role we have been given requires risk taking and courage. But we are not alone–we are never alone in our role! What’s more, taking that role is our ticket to becoming the man or woman of God that He created us to be.
I said this earlier about this theme 2 from the Lord of the Rings Trailer. When I first heard those words, I thought daunting, too big, Me??? I can’t! But I came to realize that there is more to this point than first comes to mind. My part to play in His grand design is NOT without support. Aaaah…Rest…Rest in Him… Have faith…Faith in Him! I am not alone! I do have resources that I did not know I had. What God offers is so comforting that I gladly, by faith, accept my role in His plan and take one step at a time with His love, comfort, care, mercy, and strength. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” He would not give me a role without also giving me the love, strength, and courage to come through for Him. That’s the kind of God we serve. He asks of us but knowing our nature, He provides the way for us to fulfill all that He asks.
By stepping up, we step into the almost magical plan that God has for us. He will meet us there. He grooms us for our part to play. We learn what true masculinity and true femininity are. So, in all this we can relax, Jesus is our leader and He is our teacher. He is the source of the power, love, and grace He is asking us to display before a dying world. He saves it, not us, but He chooses to use us–what a miracle!!!
So what is masculinity in God’s terms? I believe God defines masculinity, not the way the world defined it, but in terms of what He has equipped us to give to the world. His gifting involves equipping us to engage others. He places deep desires in us to be in community–to be in relationship with those in our domains or spheres of influence. So, as men He is equipping us to engage the world with strength and love and He through us will bring forth life and growth.
It’s the same with femininity. Femininity in the spiritual dimension of life involves using the beauty and creativity God has provided to offer His life, His rest, His love to others.
We are Jesus’ representatives to those in our world. I can’t emphasize enough that we are to focus on being the man or woman of God. He will help us work through the process. Surrender your whole heart–all of it (thoughts, feelings, desires, and choices) and even your body, to Him. Sometimes this involves hard choices–leaving our comfort zone to be in close relationship to Him and others.
Choosing Him and choosing to follow the deep desires He has placed in us brings us into His plan and fulfills us in ways we could not imagine had we not followed His lead. Follow His lead. He will give the means whatever His calling. He will never leave us. You can do it, because He is there.
How are you receiving these realities? Can you trust Him to work in you?
Any time you see LR in the title of a blog this year, it stands for Lord of the Rings. It’s a hint that the blog is about the themes delivered in the Lord of the Rings trailer.
