John Eldredge features these words in the book, Waking the Dead.
I like it!!! Morpheus, responding to Neo’s sense that he is not in control of his life: You feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life. There’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is But it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.
This is a characterization of spiritual reality. Things are not what they seem. We can’t put our finger on it but we feel it–it’s real. As Eldredge says: “Peter, James, and John follow Jesus up to the Mount of Transfiguration. And all of them discover that there is far more going on here than meets the eye.”
