How To Best Read Your Bible

The bible says to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” God is NOT telling us to study history for the customs, or Greek or Hebrew, he’s telling us to study HIS WORD. On the bright side, he ended with a good admonition (2 Pet. 1:20).

Finally got a chance to listen to this. Very good. The only thing I would add is that the Bible was written to point us to God. Read it always looking to God, not doctrine. Expect it to change you, the reader. It should shape you, not you twist the text to say what you were told it has to mean to fit a doctrinal preference. It is a personal, not philosophical, message from God to human.
Thanks for this link. Glad there’s such solid stuff out there.
    Peace

David, I like your add to the thoughts of the video. Over a year ago I did a scan of the internet on what was good and motivating for folks to get into the Word. This one hit me but there is probably others out there that do a good job.

Getting into the word is not an academic exercise, it is very personal. I believe we need to emphasize the personal and God to human component because so much out there , even in the pulpits is at a rational level.
