The Glory of a Heart Fully Alive

That is the subtitle of the book: Waking the Dead by John Eldredge.waking_the_dead_small

Where did he get that concept? Well, from life, from the Bible, and from a quote of a dear father of the faith St. Irenaeus. St. Irenaeus said, “The glory of God is man fully alive.”

What is that short statement so important. Because men are not fully alive. Men, like women, are shut down. How are they shut down you ask? From weariness of the battle. We are all in a battle whether we recognize that fact or not. If we do not, we are the worse off because we don’t even know we are shut down.

God wants us all, His children, to be fully alive. We have to want that with Him. We have to be open to Him and wanting to have His will reign in our lives.

That’s where He desires all of us to be–turned towards Him and seeking Him and resisting all other forces.

It is an active process. We must commit ourselves to it–sell out to the cause, His cause, and the beauty is that we get glory. We get glory by revealing His glory. That is a beautiful cyclical experience–to get glory by giving Him glory.

May you give Him glory today and may He move you from one level of glory to another.
