Steal, Kill, Destroy

“The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I am come, that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Please read the Gospel of John 10:7-18.

For most of my Christian life I have focused on the last part of Verse 10. It is true but so is the first truth that Jesus affirms here. We have an enemy and he is here to steal from us, to kill us if allowed, and/or to destroy our hearts and everything flowing from our hearts.

Read John 10:10 again. How does the reality of evil and the battle impact you?

The Shepherd and Guardian of my soul laid down His life for me and redeemed me. His protection is real and is available. Reflect on how He has protected you in the past.

Thank Jesus for His protection. Put on your armor today (Ephesians 6). Fight your enemy in His strength and power.

  1. We forget too often with our modernist sensibilities that a spiritual war continues, that evil is real (not a temporary moral lapse) and that the enemy patrols about like a roaring (starving) lion. And the more faithful one is to Jesus Christ the more likely the enemy will target you. Not much wonder the New Testament is full of “Stay Alerts”! Important warning you remind people of here.
